The Fusing Factory Story

Angela Beucler and Paul Tarlow

Fusing Factory is the collaborative vision of Angela Beucler and Paul Tarlow, a husband-and-wife team with over 50 years of combined experience in glass fusing.

Their story began in the early 2000s at Austin’s original glass fusing studio, the Art Glass Fusing Center. While their romantic journey wouldn’t begin for another two decades, Angela and Paul quickly formed a close friendship rooted in a shared love of glass. In 2021, they went on their first date (Hamilton), and in July 2022, they were married in a field of lavender on Cape Cod.

Amid all this joyful change, one question kept bubbling to the surface: how could they combine their deep expertise in kilnformed glass into something meaningful together? Angela, a past finalist in Emerge—a prestigious juried exhibition sponsored by Bullseye Glass—had decades of experience as both an artist, innovator, and educator. Paul, known for running a successful teaching studio and authoring numerous instructional books, had long been a community go-to source for fusing techniques and guidance.

Both are endlessly curious about kilnformed glass and how it can be pushed into new realms of artistic expression. Angela pioneered a signature method of integrating fine silver into glass in her Kintsugi work. Paul developed and popularized original techniques like Fossil Vitra and Frit Stretching. They both believe, in a quiet, insistent way, that the universe had been nudging them together all along. So, the next question was simple: what could they build together?

In 2023, they answered that question by founding Fusing Factory, a company dedicated to creating innovative tools and delivering top-quality education for the glass fusing community. Their first release? The Powder Printer—a breakthrough tool that combines ease of use, accessibility, and precision in a way no other method had before. From the initial idea to the first shipment on May 3, 2023, Angela and Paul poured themselves into countless hours of brainstorming, prototyping, testing, and refining. Their efforts paid off: in the first year, they shipped more than 1,200 Powder Printers.

They also operate Fused.Glass, the largest independent fused glass Facebook group in the world, with a thriving community of over 30,000 members sharing inspiration, advice, and support.

Today, Angela and Paul live in the scenic Texas Hill Country, where they continue to turn ideas into tools, inspiration, and five-star education for glass artists around the world.
